Caring for your pearls

Always handle your pearls carefully to keep them in the best condition.  Put your pearls on after you've applied your makeup and perfume. After wearing them, your pearls can be cleaned with a mild soap and water solution. Wipe the pearls with a soft, lint-free cloth after you take them off. The cloth can be dry or dampened with water.  If damp, allow the pearls to air dry before putting them away.  Never clean your pearls with solutions that contain ammonia or harsh detergents and never use abrasive cleaners or rub pearls with an abrasive cloth – both can take away the luster, leaving you with dull pearls.

 

Storing your pearls

Try to store your pearls away from other jewelry because they can be scratched easily when other materials rub against them.  You can also keep them in a soft bag made from any non-abrasive material.  To ensure that a pearl necklace is in good shape, the silk or nylon cord holding your pearls should be changed periodically.
